Everyone wants to be better at using firearms than they currently are—especially when it comes to ARs. However, many people rarely take the initiative to improve. If you’re reading this blog post, then we’ll assume you’re interested in upping your game. We won’t waste any more time. Below is our list of tips to help improve your AR shooting skills.
Ensure That You’ve Mastered the Fundamentals
One of the biggest mistakes people make is failing to master shooting fundamentals. That’s why it’s a good idea to revisit them before you get too far into your training. Focusing on gun and arm placements as well as proper breathing techniques. If you don’t have a firm grasp of the basics, you’ll develop sloppy form, which will negatively affect your shooting. If you catch yourself making mistakes, refresh yourself on the basics before doing anything else.
Try Different Positions
Sometimes the thing holding you back at the range is your positioning while shooting. You likely got taught how to stand in the way that worked best for the person who first showed you how to shoot a gun, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best position for you. That’s why you should try out some other stances and see how they affect your aim.
Of course, you don’t have to shoot standing. As long as your gun range allows it, you can try out prone, crouched, or seated shooting as well. We’d still recommend standing for most of your shooting, but testing these positions out is never a bad idea if you want a change of pace.
Get the Best Gear for Your Gun
Once you’ve nailed the basics, any other issues you encounter might stem from the parts you have equipped to your AR. Some basic gear to upgrade include the sights and stocks to improve visibility and stability. There are some other things that people don’t commonly think to upgrade—such as the trigger, for instance.
If the weight of your current trigger is too high, the process of pulling it might also pull your gun away from the target, messing up your shots. There are other aspects to consider as well, such as the shape of your trigger. Curved ones help you put your finger in the same spot every time, but if you want to figure out which placement is most comfortable for your finger, get a straight trigger.
Not all gear will help your game directly, though. Sometimes, you simply want to ensure your gun is safe when stored at home. As such, we’d like to direct you to our AR wall lock. It will keep your gun secure while also giving you easy access in the case of an emergency.
Practice Whenever You Get the Chance
Our final tip to help improve your AR shooting skills is simply to practice as often as you can. You can’t get better unless you put in the effort, so get down to the range whenever you can to develop your abilities.
